You don't have to figure it all out alone
What is Amiga Fertility?
Amiga is not a clinic, we don't sell treatments. Our service is support. Amiga helps you cut through the noise and focus on treatments that actually improve outcomes.
Amiga is who we are, and Fertility is our goal.
Why do I need Amiga Fertility?
Because fertility treatment can be complex and confusing alone, and challenges can multiply while abroad. There is lots of information out there and Amiga has digested it already for you. We have accompanied many patients to Spain so we know what is important and what to watch for. We will be your support system. We want you to move forward with confidence and reduce stress.
What does Amiga Fertility offer?
We offer: human support, clarity, international experience, emotional understanding, and practical coordination. Amiga meets you wherever you are in your process. Either thinking about your options, preparing to travel, mid-cycle and overwhelmed, post-procedure and processing results. We will be a video-call or an email away.
What fertility treatments can I do through Amiga Fertility?
Any! We have helped patients seeking IVF, ovodonation, and egg freezing; patients with endometriosis, PCOS, couples, singles, lesbians, and low AMH to find the best clinic and to smooth the process.
Does Amiga know every single clinic in Spain?
No, there are more than 460 clinics in Spain (as in November 2025). It would be very hard for us to coordinate that many. We work with the top 10 groups of clinics around Spain.
How do you select the clinics for each patient?
We work with the top 10 big fertility groups in Spain. We can discuss them all in our call and fit a few to your needs. If you have some clinics in mind already, we will go through them too. We won’t push. Fertility expertise and talent is very reputable all around Spain. We want to help you make an educated decision based on all your needs and personal situation. Our goal is for you to be confident and focus on yourself.
How long do I have to be in Spain for?
For IVF and egg freezing: Ideally, we always recommend staying ~ 2 weeks to not be rushing. Stimulation cycles can last 9 to 12 days, approximately. Some people do “hybrid” stims where they stay in their countries during the first days of stimulation and fly to Spain only for retrieval. Clinics are used to this too if the patient needs it.
Where do I get my medication if I am staying at home the first days of stimulation?
Ideally you buy your drugs in Spain because they are very affordable there. If it is not possible, we know an international pharmacy with lots of experience sending fertility drugs all around the globe. We will connect you with them if needed.
Why should I choose Spain?
Because:
1) High volume = high experience: Spain performs about 800k fertility treatments per year and offers clinical quality, practical access, and cost efficiency. Spain accounts for 15% of all in vitro fertilization (IVF) treatments in Europe, and about 12% of births in Spain are from IVF.
2) High success rates: Spanish fertility clinics are widely recognized for strong pregnancy success outcomes across IVF and egg donation treatments. Some clinics report that 7 out of 10 patients achieve pregnancy with IVF, and this increases with technologies like genetic testing (PGT) to around 8 out of 10. Egg donation success can be as high as 9 out of 10 pregnancies, with many achieving pregnancy on the first attempt.
3) Progressive and protective legal framework: Spanish law allows anonymous egg and sperm donation, and clinics maintain large, well-screened donor banks matching a wide range of phenotypes and backgrounds. This is particularly important for lesbian couples, single parents by choice, and patients needing donor eggs due to age or diminished ovarian reserve. The availability of donors makes cycles more predictable and often faster than in countries with more restrictive donor policies.
4) Affordability: IVF and egg donation in Spain are generally more affordable than in many parts of Europe and North America. For example, donor IVF cycles in Spain typically range from around €5,000–€8,000, which is often substantially less than in the U.S., where treatment costs are higher and rarely covered by insurance. Patients frequently find that even when including travel and stay, the total cost remains significantly lower than paying entirely out-of-pocket in their home country.
5) Innovation: Spain has become a hub for reproductive medicine with large high-volume clinics, multidisciplinary teams, access to advanced technology like PGT, modern lab environments for embryo culture, safety practices and tools, and more.
6) International welcoming: Spain is an international friendly European country having Barcelona as the most visited city in the world. Clinics have multilingual staff, knowledge of medical tourism logistics, and lots of experience coordinating with international patients.
Why is Spain so much more affordable?
Fertility treatments in Spain are about 50-70% more affordable than the US/UK (For example: Egg freezing can be around 2000 euros, and IVF 5000 euros vs $12k and $20k in the US/UK. Treatment medication is around 800-900 euros). Why? Because,
1) Government regulation and price control ensures that clinics are monitored to prevent excessive price inflation.
2) High volume and specialization: Spain is a global hub for fertility treatments, performing the highest number of procedures in the EU annually (>800k). This allows clinics to benefit from economies of scale, reducing the cost per patient. The high from both domestic and European patients ensures steady revenues, allowing for more affordable pricing structures.
3) Lower cost of medical education: Doctors and specialists in Spain don't accumulate large amounts of student debt, as medical education is heavily subsidized. Lower financial burdens on medical professionals can translate into lower patient costs
4) Competitive market among clinics: Spain has a large number of fertility clinics competing for, particularly within the EU. This competitiveness encourages clinics to keep prices reasonable while maintaining high-quality standards.
5) Lower operational and medication costs: Labor are lower, and medication costs, such as hormone injections, are low due to government price regulations.
6) Public health and subsidies: keep prices low, as locals have access to free fertility treatments; private clinics have to keep prices competitive.
How are gamete donors in Spain?
We work with both Spain and Portugal clinics because these two counties offer anonymous and non-anonymous donors, respectively. In Spain, gamete donors are strictly anonymous by law, meaning recipients and children cannot know the donor’s identity, and donors cannot know who receives their gametes. Clinics select donors very carefully based on age (usually 18–35 for egg donors), physical health, psychological evaluation, and detailed medical and genetic screening (including family history and infectious diseases). As a recipient, you typically receive non-identifying information such as the donor’s age, physical traits (height, weight, eye/hair color), blood type, education level, and sometimes personality characteristics, with matching done to resemble the recipient as closely as possible. In Portugal, donation is non-anonymous, and in some clinics recipients may see childhood photos or limited images of donors, but not adult photos or identifying details.
